I missed him when I went to college. He was miles away from where I was. He brought me so much comfort, companionship, and laughter. He was a wirehair dachshund named Fritz. I had taught him how to sit up on his hind legs. There was something funny about a dachshund doing this trick. It always made me smile.
Finding myself in a new environment in college was exciting. There were days, though, that I missed Fritz. Those were the days I would visit the puppies in a pet store.
Bernard Williams says it best with this quote:
“There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.”
I am so thankful that God gave me a love for animals. It has given me so much in life and made me a better person.
